We all love barn owls for their distinctive heart-shaped faces and ghostly flight. If you’re lucky, you might spot one at dawn or dusk, especially at this time of year when the nights are long. Barn owls aren’t true night hunters — they are crepuscular, meaning they’re most active at twilight.
This Project Box creates a beautiful 2D sunrise scene featuring a barn owl in flight, finished slightly smaller than 30 × 36 cm. You can choose how to complete your piece depending on your preferred style: needle felt onto hessian and back it with felt for a more structured finish, or work the other way around for a softer look. Both fabrics are included, giving you full creative freedom. Also included is a skein of embroidery thread so you can sew the backing material onto the picture using a blanket stitch.
To make hanging your artwork easy, the box also includes two small metal hanging rings, which can be sewn onto the back and used with picture hooks or similar fixings.
This project is a wonderful way to explore colour blending, texture, and layering, while creating a striking piece of felted artwork to display in your home.

No tools included! You will need a felting mat, coarse and medium felting needles, a 2d felting tool (highly recommended), scissors, sewing needle and a pencil.
