January 2026 Makerss Box – Barn Owl in Flight (2D Picture)
We all love barn owls for their distinctive heart-shaped faces and ghostly flight. If you’re lucky, you might spot one at dawn or dusk, especially at this time of year when the nights are long. Barn owls aren’t true night hunters — they are crepuscular, meaning they’re most active at twilight.
This month’s Makerss Box is a stunning sunrise 2D picture, approximately 30 × 40cm (12 × 16in), featuring a barn owl in flight. You can choose how to finish your piece: needle felt onto hessian and back it with felt, or work the other way around — both fabrics are included so you can decide what suits your style best.
Please note that Makerss Boxes start shipping from mid month.
Techniques you’ll learn
- Mixing wool for subtle colour transitions
- Using water-soluble paper to create a perfectly shaped owl
- Finishing your picture with a backing
- Blanket stitch and simple embroidery with thread

FAQs
Which project will I receive?
You will receive the theme of the month in which the payment is made, and for every month following (unless you skip a payment - see below) until your subscription ends or is cancelled.
How does the subscription work?
Once payment is received, the system generates an order for your subscription to our online shop, at this point you will receive an email notification, and also when the order is fulfilled (sent to you). Your first payment is on the day you create your subscription and will receive your box a few days after. The next month and from then on you will always be charged on same day each month and will receive your box a few days after (unless you change your payment date in your account). You can cancel your subscription anytime.
What will I receive?
You will always receive a variety of fibres, materials, accessories etc to create the themes project(s). You will receive printed instructions, and in your first box you will receive 6x felting needles and a foam mat. Projects are based around needle felting but could also include other crafts.
Who is it suitable for?
Suitable for beginners and upwards, and children over 10 (or supervised crafty children age 7+). The box can be delivered to any address and so is suitable for a gift.
When will I receive my box?
You will receive your first box after our normal order processing time 1-2 working days plus 2 days for delivery, so it should be 3-4 days after payment. After that your payment will come out the same date next month (unless you change your payment date) and your box will arrive a few days afterwards.

I love these little mice characters , I've made several now plus made my own special characters to add to the family. This Gardner mouse is didn't fail to impress either. I may have adapted mine a little by making a little 'cactus' of wool instead of the provided coloured wool but it only adds to his charm. I would recommend these kits to anyone the instructions are easy to follow and once you've made one little critter you will want to make more of your own.
After months of worrying I would mess this owl up I carefully followed the instructions and thoroughly enjoyed making this beautiful owl. This is the first larger project I have created and, combined with the easy to follow instructions, I found this so much easier to make than smaller projects bought elsewhere. I cannot believe I’ve created something so professional looking 🦉🥰
This has made needle felting so much easier to do, it’s beautiful quality and creates a great surface to work off at such a reasonable cost with the added bonus of being compostable. I would definitely recommend this mat set.
I enjoyed the package very much. I have already made the Gingerbread house. It was a fun project. The core wool that makes up the basis of the0 house is quite messy but fairly easy to use.
