Large Eco Wool Felting Mat (made from recycled wool and 100% compostable).

Size: 20cm x 20cm

Really good value and a good square size for larger felting projects, this double-layer, eco-friendly felting mat works really well as an eco friendly alternative to foam or other plastic mats.
You may like our Earth Friendly Felting Mats available here.

Note: the EcoWool Mat is made in the UK from recycled wool and is fully home compostable at the end of its life. The two mats will fuse together after a few stabs.

Important when 2D Needle Felting: When felting flat on the mat, as with any other mats, you will have to lift off your work regularly to stop it from getting fastened on. You can use a ‘barrier’ to create a thin finish and/or stop any fibre contamination. Try using a grease proof baking sheet or our wool viscose felt sheets. These will help but you will still have to lift off your work regularly.

Eco Mat

Haven't used it yet, but it feels soft, and I like how it's biodegradable as well. Can't wait to try it.

Love the eco mat

Really liked the eco mat found it a joy to use. Might upgrade to the earth mat in the new year as people seem to think its even better.

Much better than foam sponge mat

Makerss had a sale on, so I decided to finally try a wool mat. I haven't done much felting yet, though I'm preparing to really make a go of it. I was well satisfied with the wool mat, which I used for two small 2D projects last week.

I'm not sure if there was fibre transfer from the mat, but that wasn't a concern with a 2D piece. But there wasn't anything obvious. An easy fix would be to place a layer of fabric or sheet of felt down first. And there was no "denting" after I lifted the work.

Speaking of lifting, I found it better to do it often, to prevent the fibres getting really embedded in the mat, and thus harder to lift.

This is definitely my go-to felting surface from now on.

This is going to be much better than the piece of foam I previously used. Bought 2 to use together.
